I am attorney Jim Desmond. I have practiced personal injury law for over 16 years. During that time, I have compiled a long record of success in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, slips, falls, dog bites and motorcycle accidents. My clients learn very early on that I only handle one type of law, personal injuries. As a result, I had better know what I am doing.
I grew up in Chicago, went to University of Kentucky law school and moved to Louisville in 1994.
Before opening my own practice, I worked for Humana, Yellow Cab, Clark Ward and Cave, Healthcare Recoveries and the Becker Law Office. My experience is somewhat of a melting pot. I have defended insurance carriers and self-insured companies. I have even represented health plans in recovering money from personal injury settlements.
My experience with the Becker Law Office was wonderful training as I got to handle more automobile accident cases than your average attorney. However, the big firms and the television advertisers have a big flaw. The continuing existence of their firm depends upon bringing in and settling a multitude of cases. My firm is just the opposite. I want to deal with your case personally. I want to get the facts of your case directly from you and not through second-hand information delivered through a paralegal or secretary.
And if I ever find a case is too complicated or involved for just one attorney, I do not hesitate to bring in co-counsel. The attorneys fee stay the same. You just have two attorneys working on your behalf instead of one. I know people who handle different areas of the law than I do or are just very good at what they do. When a case calls for it, I don't hesitate to pull them into the picture. After all, this case is about you. When your case is closed, the insurance company and I will move on to the next automobile accident.
